ENGLAND Sevens star Chris Cracknell helped teenage players at Old Albanians celebrate winning more than £1,500 worth of playing kit and equipment for the new season.

The Under 14s at the Hertfordshire club claimed the prize for selling more tickets than any other team in England to the Emirates Airline London Sevens, filling three coaches with more than 150 supporters to send to Twickenham in May.

Old Albanians, who also earned money through the Club Cashback initiative, were rewarded with a complete set of Nike playing shirts, socks and shorts, 50 Gilbert size 4 and 5 balls and Powerade waterbottles, carriers, a cool box and five cases of Powerade Ion 4.

Then they got to train with Cracknell, the former Bath Rugby and Worcester Warriors flanker who is part of England’s full-time sevens squad preparing for the start of the HSBC Sevens World Series.

“It’s a fantastic prize,” said Under 14 coach Peter McCullough.

“It gives us an away kit which we really need and the boys love the quality. Our first-aider was doing cartwheels when she saw the cool box as she’s wanted one of those for a few years. We’ve got 25 balls in size four for this year and another 25 in size five for when they’re Under 15s next year.

“It’s completely come out of the blue, it must be worth well more than a thousand pounds and we’d encourage all other clubs to take part and enter this season.

“The reaction to Chris coming down has been great from both the coaches and the boys. He’s brilliant with the boys and to have an England international to come and coach our Under 14s is great. How lucky are we!”

Tickets to next year’s Emirates Airline London Sevens at Twickenham on May 12-13 next year are on sale now priced from £18 for adults and £5 for juniors.

You can save 50 per cent if you book in September when category 2 weekend tickets are just £15 for adults.

The launch of the Club Cashback scheme over the coming months will also create the opportunity to earn money for your club and be in with the chance of winning some great prizes.
