The England U18s Clubs and Schools programme kicks off in earnest in just over a month and will culminate with the first-ever  home international, when England U18 Clubs and Schools take Ireland Under 18 Clubs at Old Merchant Taylors’ RFC on April 14 (12.00 kick off).

The Divisional Festival, between February 17-19 at Broadstreet RFC, will see talented players from all four regions on show as the two days of competition allow the Clubs and Schools' management team to select their squad.

England U18 Clubs and Schools was introduced last season to reward players who have advanced within their Constituent Bodies. It ensures talented players are kept on the International radar whilst continuing to pursue academic and career interests.

There is so much talent in the Under 18 age group - Reed

The 2011 squad took on Ireland U18 Clubs in Dublin and showed real determination to come back from 17-0 at half time, drawing 23-23 with the last play of the match.

In a bid to go one further and secure victory this time, as well as enhancing the international experience of the players, the 2012  programme also includes warm up matches against Northampton Saints Academy and Leicester Tigers Academy.

Head Coach Dave Reed said: "There is so much talent in the Under 18 age group. I’m really looking forward to the Divisional Festival and the chance to select a squad which, thanks to the exciting programme of training weekends and matches, will be well prepared for their international challenge.

"With the training camps taking place at Surrey Sports Park and with our first home international at Old Merchant Taylors', the players called up can look forward to an intensive but rewarding experience."

Tickets for the match against Ireland are only £5 and go on sale this week. Visit for more details.
