- Saracens duo confident of strong showing against Scotland
- Barritt is "awesome" to play with - Farrell
Ahead of their respective international debuts against Scotland on Saturday afternoon, Saracens teammates Owen Farrell and Brad Barritt are confident that they will be able to bring their impressive club form into the Test arena.
Farrell, the junior member of Stuart Lancaster’s side, outlined the qualities that his midfield partner will bring to England's opening match of the RBS 6 Nations at Murrayfield.
“[Barritt] is awesome to play with,” said the 20 year-old, who will start the Calcutta Cup clash at inside centre.
“He’s a big, tough ball-carrier and as steady as it comes in defence as well. That makes it ideal to play either inside or outside of him.”
Having featured prominently for the England Saxons over the past two seasons, South African-born Barritt was delighted to have been named alongside his club colleague and described the hostilites he expects to face during his first match at Murrayfield.
“It’s obviously a huge honour for us to be able to play together” he said. “I have been in and around the squad for the past two years so to get this opportunity is a dream come true.
“There will obviously a very vibrant atmosphere because the Celts always get well behind their team. Scotland are a settled side and have strike players all over the pitch too but we have made this week all about us.
“This is a huge chance to stake a claim and we are relishing the opportunity.”
