Matthew Jefferson has been appointed the RFU’s new Rugby Development Officer for Derbyshire.
Jefferson, who will take up his new post on February 1, succeeds former Nottingham scrum half Alan Royer who has been promoted to become the Midlands East Regional Rugby Manager, a role he had held in an interim capacity since September 2010.
Jefferson has worked as a Community Rugby Coach in Nottinghamshire for several years and demonstrated a detailed knowledge of local delivery of the game and an understanding of the strategic direction for grassroots rugby in support of clubs, educational establishments and the wider community.
Jefferson will continue his role in Nottinghamshire until the end of this month.
