Fylde RFC’s excellent facilities will host some of Europe’s finest young rugby talent on Sunday, February 19 (KO 14.00) when England Under 18 meet their French counterparts at the Woodlands Memorial Ground.

The transition for age-group rugby to the senior international stage can be very rapid and senior talent spotters looking for youngsters with the ability to bridge the gap will be joined by enthusiasts from the North West who will recall a day when Jonny Wilkinson was putting down a marker with England U18 against Scotland at nearby Preston Grasshoppers.

“We’re really excited about heading up to Fylde for what promises to be a great game against a strong France side and it would be superb to get a big crowd down to support us.” says England Under 18 Manager John Fletcher, who has steered the side to 24 wins in their 27 matches.

“We didn’t play the French last season, so we’re excited about renewing old acquaintances. This season’s Under 18s squad is much changed from last year’s group, but we have some talented lads who will work extremely hard and give their all.”

Fylde's Chairman of Rugby, Paddy Dowling, is delighted that his club is staging another international.

“We’ve staged many representative games at the Woodlands over the years, including England v Wales Under 16s last April. We're delighted that the RFU recognises our ability to stage such a high quality fixture and we’ll be giving our Gallic visitors a most hospitable Lancashire welcome.”

Tickets can either be bought from the Club Office at Fylde RFC (01253 734733, e-mail or at the gate on the 19th. Adults £5.00; Concessions & young people & children under 16, £2.00.
