Nottingham Rugby’s Jack Bradford has been called up to the Scotland U20 squad ahead of their forthcoming 6 Nations campaign.

The former Worksop College pupil and Newark RFC player has been training full time with Nottingham’s RFU Championship squad during the current campaign, having worked his way up to become another product of the club’s academy.

Bradford has already represented Scotland at Under 16 and Under 18 level and his latest call up represents the continuation of his impressive progression through the development structure.

Jack said, “I’m very honoured to have been called up for the Under 20 squad for the Six Nations as I’m always very proud to represent my country. The coaching and support I have received from Nottingham since I joined the academy has been amazing and has played a huge part in me being able to play internationally.

“I’m now hoping to continue training hard with the first team at Nottingham and hope to take any opportunities that come my way.”

The work done in our academy is outstanding - Delaney

Nottingham’s Director of Rugby, Glenn Delaney said, “The Nottingham Rugby Academy, headed by John Widdowson, has been producing outstanding talent for some time now. We are all very proud of Jack’s achievement and wish him well for the coming Six Nations.

“Last season Mitchell Todd represented Scotland and Charlie Davis England. The continuing success of our development program has seen all three play in Nottingham’s first team and, in Charlie’s case, move into the Premiership.

“The work done in our academy is outstanding and credit must go to John, Dave Andrews and Henry Diamond - the coaches, along with the volunteer management. I have faith that over time our squad will comprise of players that follow in the footsteps of David Jackson and Neil Fowkes, making their way from junior rugby into our first team here in Nottingham.”

Nottingham’s Academy Manager, John Widdowson said, “The news about Jack’s call up is great and demonstrates the consistency that he has achieved and the levels of performance he has demonstrated.

“During the period we have worked with him at Nottingham, his desire, ambition, work ethic and focus on his goals has, I am sure, contributed to his latest achievement. Last year saw Mitchell Todd represent Scotland in the same competition, hopefully Jack will have a great experience and competition as Mitchell did.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the players continued success on behalf of Nottingham Rugby, especially for the coaches, players and parents at the Nottingham Academy.”
