This week’s RFU Podcast tracks down Chris Ashton – the England star back in pre-season training with new club Saracens.

Ashton was at the new Allianz Park stadium this week taking his first steps with his new club after making the switch from Northampton Saints.

He’s adamant that the move was made to develop his game and that he’s looking forward to the challenge. “I’ve got to start again, I’ve got to impress and I’ve got to get in the team,” he said.

We also hear from his new England teammate, full back Alex Goode, who made his international debut in South Africa this summer.

The attention of the nation switches to the Olympics this week and one sprint star the public can race is jet-heeled England Sevens wing Dan Norton.

Fans can race a Virtual Norton over 20metres on an indoor track at a performance centre in London over the next few weeks and he explained his need for speed.

Elsewhere in the world of sevens there are games to savour in the JP Morgan Premiership tournament at Kingsholm where Gloucester, Bath, Worcester Warriors and Exeter Chiefs are competing for places in the August 3 finals at the Rec.

The final game of the night is a big Westcountry clash and we caught up with Gloucester and England Saxons centre Henry Trinder and Bath’s former England Sevens wing Tom Biggs.
