Nine England Women players will feature in the Great Britain Sevens squad to play in next month's World University Championships in Brive from July 11-13.
Sevens stars Sarah McKenna and Emily Scarratt, who both helped England lift the IRB Challenge Cup crown at the Marriott London Sevens in May, have been included alongside Kate Hancock, Isabelle Noel Smith, Katie Mason and Emily Scott who have all played for England Sevens this season.
Lichfield’s Victoria Fleetwood, Worcester’s Charlotte Keane and Bristol’s Sally Tuson, who have all played XVs rugby for England and England U20s, will make their international Sevens debuts at the tournament.
In a collaborative venture with the home unions, England Women’s Sevens Assistant Coach Susie Appleby has been appointed GB Head Coach by BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sports) backed up by Scotland’s Scott Forrester.
This year's World University Championships Sevens will see ten teams competing for the coveted crown, with Spain the defending champions, and it will run alongside the men’s World University Championship Sevens.
