For the view from the stands we speak to RFU Championship and Bedford Blues fan Mark Pett-Ridge.
Name: Mark Pett-Ridge
Which RFU Championship club do you support?
How long have you supported the club?
I have been going to Goldington Road since around 1997 and a season ticket holder for most of them.
What is the best thing about being a Bedford supporter?
It’s a great friendly club, the rugby is always exiting even if it is emotionally draining.
Who is your player of the season so far?
This has to go to Josh Bassett, the current top try scorer and recent England U20 international. What has been your favourite moment of this season?
Never a dull moment with the Blues, but the amazing last minute penalty by Rotherham’s Garry Law to win the game at Doncaster on Sky springs to mind. The swerve and the reaction of the crowd was good fun. Who do you think will win the 2011-12 RFU Championship?
I hope Bedford will be in with a shout when it comes to the semis and finals, and go a step further than last year, but Bristol seem to have an edge. It would be good to get revenge after last year’s cup final. What do you enjoy about RFU Championship rugby?
There is a lot of freedom in the rugby played compared with the Premiership, a wider variety of play and skills are shown week in week out. Sum up the RFU Championship in three words:
Entertaining, exiting and undervalued
