Burridge out of England Under 16 squad

  • Conner called up to replace injured Yorkshire flanker
  • Herron and Jennings fit to face Italy and Wales

England Under 16 have called up East Midlands flanker Jacob Conner for their forthcoming internationals against Italy Under 17 and Wales Under 16.

Conner, of Northampton School for Boys and Old Northamptonians, was initially in the England North Under 16 squad but he has now replaced Yorkshire’s Tom Burridge in the final England Under 16 squad.

Burridge has been ruled out of the Italy and Wales matches with a broken collarbone which he sustained in Sunday’s final warm-up match against London Wasps Academy Under 17 at St Edward’s School in Oxford.

England completed their preparations with a 29-5 win over Wasps and will now travel to Parma to face Italy U17 on April 7 and Wales U16 at Wellington College in Berkshire on April 11.

Backs Brett Herron and Rory Jennings have recovered from the knocks they took in the defeat by Leicester Academy U17s at Abingdon School nine days ago.
