In a first for schools rugby, the Daily Mail RBS Schools Day is being streamed live on RFU.com from Twickenham Stadium on Wednesday, April 4.
The Daily Mail RBS Schools Competition is the premier tournament in schools rugby where school teams compete regionally and then nationally for the chance to play at Twickenham and clinch the coveted trophy.
Some 1000 teams take part each year across the country at Under 15 and Under 18 level. All schools that enter play for a main cup and there is also a vase for teams knocked out in the early rounds, also culminating in a Twickenham final.
This year’s finals, on April 4, will be made available for all supporters, pupils, teachers and family who can’t attend Twickenham to watch online at www.rfu.com/schoolsdaylive from 11.00am.
The venture is the first of its kind for the Daily Mail RBS Schools competition which has never before been broadcast live on RFU.com.
RFU Digital Editor Tom Hines added: "Some of the players involved in the Daily Mail RBS Schools competition have gone on to represent England, including England U20 players Charlie Walker and Elliot Daly and of course David Strettle and James Haskell, amongst others.
"This is a great opportunity for those who can’t come to Twickenham mid-week to watch their schools step up onto the big stage and witness England’s potential future stars.
"Online streaming has proved incredibly successful with England Women and England U20 and we are delighted to be expanding to include schools rugby."
