England Under 17 beat their Scottish rivals 33-15 in glorious conditions at The Greenyard, Melrose, on Sunday.

Tries from Louis Clayton-Molloy, Howard Packman, George Wacokecoke and two from Max Clark secured the win, while fly half Josh Sharp kicked eight points.

Classy play and powerful running by the England centre pairing of Clark and Nick Tompkins put down the foundations for the win, and Head Coach John Fletcher, joined by Peter Walton and Ian Peel, was pleased with the overall performance.

He said: “We struggled after half time to create the momentum that we had in the first half, but overall we did very well and we’re happy.

“We have been concentrating on national themes in the training camps and the players did well in those areas. The aim is to improve on the performance for the next game against France.”
