The Rugby Football Union and Aviva Premiership club Leicester Tigers are running a Talented Athletes Camp at the Oval Park training ground in Wigston on July 11 (6pm-9pm).
The camp is aimed at identifying talented athletes who might be able to make their mark in rugby. A minimum of three places in the Leicester Tigers Elite Player Development Group are guaranteed for those talented athletes showing the most potential at the camp.
The camp is aimed at youngsters in school years eight and nine who are tall (over 6ft 1 ins), quick, who hate losing and who play other sports.
Places can be booked by contacting Darren Gourley, RFU Regional Talent ID Development Coach, at DarrenGourley@RFU.com
“This exciting new event is looking to give talented athletes, from Leicestershire, the chance to work with Leicester Tigers Academy Coaches and Rugby Football Union Coaches,” Gourley said.
“Many of the activities they will be asked to take part in will be non-rugby related and will allow them to compete against other athletes from across a range of sports. No previous rugby experience is needed to be able to attend.
“Any athletes showing the right attributes and potential to develop as rugby players will be offered opportunity to attend Leicester Tigers Elite Player Development group.
“Leicestershire Community clubs will be invited to promote opportunitiesto to join their club’s junior section for any of the athletes who enjoy the experience and would like to explore rugby further.”
