- England Under 18 boss John Fletcher on AASE League
- Important for the clubs to get together – Fletcher
Speaking at the annual pre-season AASE League festival, England Under 18 head coach John Fletcher is full of praise for the programme and highlighted the importance of getting the colleges together before the season kicks off proper.
“It’s important for the clubs to get together and have a good hit out,” he said. “We’ve been doing this for four years and it’s a good way to start the season. It’s good for the players and it’s good for the coaches to see take a look at players we know about and to look at ones who have developed.
Fletcher added: “The door is open for new players to make their mark, particularly the forwards, and the chance is there for them to make their mark. The AASE environment is a very good one, they do rugby most days, they’re attached to a club and about 50% of the England Under 18 squad comes from the AASE League.”
