- Somerset club receives award
- Avonvale RFC meet all the standards
Avonvale RFC have been awarded the Rugby Football Union’s prestigious Club Accreditation award.
The Somerset club will be presented with their award on September 9 at their Bathford Playing Fields club in the village. Somerset RFU President John Hole will present Avonvale RFC with their prestigious award.
Avonvale RFC have been working hard to achieve all the organisational standards to meet the rigorous RFU award and RFU Somerset Rugby Development Officer Julie Price, said: “Avonvale are one of the first clubs in Bath to gain accreditation which is a testament to the hard work of their volunteers.
“The club’s junior section is one of the strongest in Bath despite being less than 10 years old, and it provides a consistent flow of players into the senior sides each year. The club are keen to develop their facilities in order to provide a better rugby experience and the RFU Accreditation takes them one step closer.”
Avonvale Chairman Martin Bath added: “The Club Accreditation process has been achieved through the hard work of many volunteers throughout the club. The accreditation process has enabled us to focus our efforts in the areas that needed further development to achieve the accreditation.
“Having achieved the Club Accreditation I feel Avonvale RFC is much better positioned to continue developing and facilitating rugby for all ages, from Mini’s through to adults and hopefully it will enable us to continue to do so for many years to come. This accreditation is a real bonus for us and reflects the heritage of a club that has been in existence for over 128 years.”
To gain the RFU’s Club Accreditation, clubs are assessed by the RFU and must demonstrate evidence of good practice in areas such as club management, player development and recruitment, child protection, sports equity, coaching, refereeing and volunteering.
