One of the North East’s most popular rugby sons, former England, Northumberland and Gosforth player Colin White, will be toasted at the Northern Football Club he played for and coached, when his memory is celebrated with the naming of the first beer to be produced at a new micro-brewery set up at McCracken Park.

London Welsh may have failed to make it three wins in six days, as they went down 39-29 to Leeds Carnegie at Old Deer Park on Saturday, but as the curtain came down on the regular Championship season Head Coach Lyn Jones was satisfied overall with his side’s progress report with the focus now very much on the play-offs.
