Ben Harvey has tendered his resignation from the post of Director of Rugby at Jersey RFC.
Harvey met with club officials on Wednesday, December 4 and informed them of his intention; his resignation was reluctantly accepted.
"I have spent two days away from the island considering my position and I asked for a meeting to be held on my return," Harvey said. "In this meeting, I said that I had decided that in order to progress my career I needed to part company with the club, and was therefore resigning with immediate effect."
Chairman Bill Dempsey said: "We are sorry that Ben has come to this decision. His hard work, effort and enthusiasm has been instrumental in enabling Jersey RFC to rise rapidly through the leagues to the level at which we now play. We would like to thank him for what he's done and wish him well in the future."
Dempsey said the club's priority was that the players and coaching staff focused on this weekend's British & Irish Cup tie against Cornish Pirates. He said that Forwards Coach Steve Boden would take interim charge of the club's playing affairs, and added that the club would be making no further comment ahead of the game on Saturday.
