- Locke Parke offers touch rugby experience
- Free entry for early registration
Touch rugby continues to advance as a stand-alone recreational sport for both sexes and all ages thanks to the creation of the O2 Touch programme in partnership with the Rugby Football Union and another opportunity to get involved in the minimum-contact game is being offered in South Yorkshire.
The O2 Touch programme is a nationwide initiative aimed at making this fun-filled, socially driven game available to anyone over the age of 15 and over 250 clubs across the country – and 145 across the North - have already become involved in the project over the summer months.
On Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 7-9pm, a chance to enjoy the sport and sample the camaraderie which makes it so popular will be available at Locke Park in Barnsley, with coaching for Under 15s being provided by Barnsley RUFC to create a full package for all the family.
While the game incorporates all the handling and evasion skills of the full game, this minimal-contact version provides a great opportunity for rugby folk and people from a non-rugby background to get together in a game which embraces simple skills and fitness in equal measure.
So if you fancy a challenge, 02 Touch Rugby is an opportunity for people already involved in sport, people who want to get involved and others who want to restart and get active in a fun, safe, organised environment.
Teams confirmed before the event will receive free entry, while teams turning up on the night will pay a £10 joining fee. Efforts will be made to find a team for individuals wanting to take part.
