FEATURE - Cornishmen Cowan-Dickie and Nowell flying the flag

  • England Under 20 pair Luke Cowan-Dickie and Jack Nowell in focus
  • Pair have come a long way since playing for Cornish Pirate U5s

England Under 20 pair Luke Cowan-Dickie and Jack Nowell have been playing rugby together since they were old enough to hold a ball.

Their journey started in their home county of Cornwall, playing for Cornish Pirates minis and over time they have played in the same Exeter Chiefs side as well as representing their country together at England Under 18s and Under 20s.

So it comes as no surprise that the two are fairly close – even rooming together at the 2013 IRB Junior World Championship – and the respect that the pair show for each other is mutual.

Luke said: "In the old days Jack used to run backwards before he ran forwards, he'd try and get away from the contact and run around people. But as you saw in our last game [against South Africa] he just carries, and he carries straight and hard, he also likes a good tackle."

Jack added: "I know everything about Luke and Luke knows everything about me. He's probably one of the best players I've ever played with, the man is possessed when he's on the pitch. He used to play No. 8 and he was always a really strong carrier. He carries hard and he plays hard."
