- Market Harborough already through to the third round after beating Dunstablians 26-0
Worcester Wanderers, last season’s beaten finalists in the National Colts Cup, face a trip to Whitchurch in the second round of this season’s competition.
Worcester were defeated by Bishop’s Stortford in last May’s final but made an impressive start to this season’s competition by beating Moseley, who won the inaugural National Colts Cup in 1998, 34-21 at home in the first round.
Old Northamptonians, beaten cup finalists in 2006, trounced Newark 94-5 in the first round and will now travel to Nottinghamshire to face Paviors in the second round.
Market Harborough are already through to the third round having beaten Dunstablians 26-0 in a match that was completed early.
The National Colts Cup was introduced in the 1997/98 season as part of the East Midlands RU’s centenary celebrations.
The competition, which is now contested by Under 18 teams from clubs across the country, is still organised by East Midlands and has continued to grow in popularity.
The National Colts Plate was introduced in the 1999/2000 season for sides beaten in the first three rounds of the Cup.
