Stourbridge Lions to kick off Cup quest with home tie

07 October 2013

  • Midlands Senior Vase holders looking to continue success
  • Promotion last season enabled entry into the RFU Intermediate Cup

Stourbridge Lions, last season's Midlands Senior Vase winners, will begin their attempt to win the RFU Intermediate Cup with a home second round tie against Newbold-on-Avon on October 19.

Stourbridge Lions beat Old Leamingtonians in last season's regional Senior Vase final but were then beaten by Selby in the national semi-finals.

They also won promotion to Midlands Two West (South) last season, which also meant elevation to the RFU Intermediate Cup.

They were given a bye through last month's first round and will now host Newbold, who won the Midlands Senior Vase in 2011.
