Honoured to have been an Assistant Coach for the RFU Championship side that took on the might of the Maori All Blacks at Doncaster last November, Cornish Pirates head coach Ian Davies will now take charge of the Barbarians for a special match to be played this November.
The famous “Baa-Baas” will face the Combined Services on Tuesday, November 12 in a Remembrance Rugby Day fixture to be played at the home of Plymouth Albion, the Brickfields, where the kick-off is at 7.15pm.
Speaking about his appointment, Davies said: “I was overjoyed when David Barnes rang to ask for my availability to coach the team. It will be a fantastic occasion and I am honoured to be part of such an historic fixture.”
Tickets are available from www.plymouthalbion.com. The Royal British Legion is sponsoring the Combined Services team, which will wear Legion branded strip/kit, and there will be live entertainment from The Band of HM Royal Marines.
The Combined Services Women will also play Exeter University Women at HMS Drake on the same day (kick-off 2.30pm), where entry is free.
