On this week’s RFU Podcast we take a look back at a mixed weekend for English clubs in Europe and hear from the Bath Rugby and Leicester Tigers camps.

We also spoke to England Under 18 forwards coach Peter Walton ahead of the annual FIRA/AER European Championship in Poznan, Poland.

Bath progressed in the Amlin Challenge Cup, beating Brive 39-7 at The Rec, and full back Nick Abendanon tells us that he was impressed with the way his side played.

Leicester Tigers became the 75th victims of Clermont’s impressive home winning streak, crashing out of the Heineken Cup in the process.

Scrum half Ben Young says that while the result was “disappointing”, he is looking forward to getting back to Aviva Premiership action.

Finally, Walton explains the benefits of touring with the England Under 18 squad as they prepare to play Portugal on Friday.

He said: “Taking the guys away from home – the travel, the hotel, the matches – is all part of their development and it’s something we’re looking forward to. Portugal on Friday will be a test – we played them last year, and we’ll need to be at our best.”
