Lymm High School and Durham School will be in action in the U18 NatWest Schools Cup quarter-finals tomorrow, with Durham's match against Adams Grammar being streamed live on

Lymm have two representatives in the quarter-final stage as their U15 side face Loughborough Grammar in the NatWest Schools Vase quarter-final.

Head of Rugby at Lymm High, Mr Davies, said: “We’re a side mostly made up of lower sixth players so we’re delighted to have made it to this stage.

“This lower sixth year group made it to a quarter-final when they were under 15s two years ago, so it has been a bit of a bonus to have made it this far as we were probably looking more at next year to mount a challenge.

“Dulwich are the favourites as they’ve won it for the last two years. That’s fine, we’re happy to be underdogs and look forward to welcoming them up here, as sometimes the underdogs can pull it off.”

Altrincham Grammar School are the other northern representatives in the U15 Vase, and they will host Stowe School.

Durham School managed to go one better than they did last year by reaching the quarter-final stage this year.

Despite this, Head of Rugby at Durham School Ben Mason does not necessarily believe they are a stronger side, more that they have benefited from last year’s lessons: “We were a bit complacent last season, which probably helped us this year as we were able to learn from our mistakes.

"It's a different side this year. We may not have some of the individuals we had last year, but we're a good unit and we're delighted to have the home quarter-final draw."

QEGS Wakefield have reached the quarter-final in the U15 Cup for the second year running after they beat RGS Lancaster in the seventh round, and with their under 18s just falling short, Head of Rugby Trevor Barker is pleased with how rugby has gone at the school this season.

He said: “First of all I’d like to say good luck to Lymm, who beat us at U18 level. It was great to have two teams involved for so long. Our under 15s have just got better and better, and have been supplemented by some good younger players.”

In the U18 Vase there is an all North West draw as Wirral Grammar School travel to Wilmslow High School.

Wirral won comfortably when the two sides met in the regular season, but Director of Sport Phil Crowley knows that it will be a different affair this time around. He said: “We know them very well, and they’re not ideal opposition for us because of that. We played them back in October and won comfortably, but we know they had a lot of players missing so we won’t be underestimating them.”
