England Women’s Sevens Head Coach Simon Middleton has made one change to his squad for this week’s IRB World Sevens Series round in Sao Paulo, Brazil (February 21-22).

Middleton has called up Richmond's Hannah Field in place of Saracens’ Sally Tuson, who has failed a late fitness test. Field has one Sevens cap under her belt, making her debut back in the 2010 European Championships.

England, who finished seventh in last weekend’s World Series leg in Atlanta, will once again be captained by Richmond’s Abigail Chamberlain with fellow club teammate Claire Allan as vice-captain.

Middleton said: “Hannah has been outstanding in training and has continued to impress so deserves this opportunity. She will provide us with some extra forward cover and adds a real physical dimension to our game so I am looking forward to seeing her in action.”

England have once again drawn New Zealand and Ireland in the pool stages alongside the USA.  England defeated Ireland last weekend 32-0, but suffered a 14-5 defeat to New Zealand and a 19-5 defeat to the USA in the plate semi final.

Middleton added: “We were disappointed with our result last week but we have to learn from those sorts of disappointments quickly and that is what I want to see from the squad this week. We are actually pleased to be drawn against these teams again; it gives us another chance to have a go at them in quick succession. We know what they bring to the game and we are highly motivated to better our results.”
