As England Under 20’s opening Junior World Championship opener against Six Nations rivals Italy edges ever closer, No. 8 James Chisholm says that his side are focusing on themselves, rather than getting too caught up with what their Azzurri opponents have in store.

Competing in his maiden JWC, Chisholm – a former England U18 captain – says that England are well over their New Zealand jet-lag and have been enjoying some full contact sessions.

He said: “It’s been good to have a blow out – we’ve been pretty sharp and pretty focused which is how it should be heading into that first game. There’s been a little bit of focus on Italy, but it’s a long old tournament and we need to be right in ourselves before we concentrate too much on the opposition.

“Italy will be physical and I’m sure they’ll look to land a few big hits but if we stick to our plans and perform well then hopefully we’ll get through it.”
