Profile

A try against Scotland at Dalziel RFC in March this year launched Charlie Thacker’s England U18 career. He played off the bench in a 28-6 victory to complete a family double, older brother and hooker Harry having made his England U20 debut against France last February. Their father Troy is a former Leicester Tigers hooker.

Charlie attends Leicester Grammar School and is an A2 student doing maths, chemistry and history with the twin targets of becoming a successful professional player, reaching the highest possible level and becoming either a doctor or a physiotherapist.

Leicester born, he first played the game when five at Lutterworth and was with the club up to the U16 age group. Charlie represented Leicestershire U14-U16 and Midlands U16 and is a member of the Leicester Tigers Academy.

He captained Lutterworth at age group level and also his school’s U15 team and was a fly half before switching to centre. The players he most admires are Brian O’Driscoll and Jonny Wilkinson and his favourite ground is Welford Road, the home of the Tigers. Away from the game, he most enjoys surfing.
