Sidcup-born Josh Peters was introduced to rugby in Spain when eight years old at Marbella RFC. He played there for eight years while attending IES Cerro del Viento in Malaga before taking up studies last year at Oundle School where his subjects are biology, mathematics, physical education and Spanish.
A member of the Northampton Saints Academy, he has played for their U17 and U18 teams and made his England U18 debut off the bench against Scotland at Darlington last March. He subsequently appeared in the England U17 starting side that beat Georgia U18 by 34-12 at Broadstreet.
Pablo Munilla, a coach at Marbella RFC, initially taught him the game. Josh said: “He was a great role model and now John Olver [former Harlequins, Northampton Saints and England hooker] is my PE teacher and coaches me in the Oundle first XV. He has inspired me to be the best I can be.”
Josh has also represented Spain U17 and U18 and is aiming for a career in sport or to study sports science at university. While at the Marbella club, he played at Number 8, helped them to become champions of Spain four times and went to Portugal with the Spain U17 last year. His father Jason also had a sporting niche as captain of the Southampton Football Club U18 team.
His rugby role models are Courtney Lawes, Brad Thorn, Schalk Brits and Manu Tuilagi and the stadium he likes best is Twickenham.
