Profile

What better start could there have been for Hong Kong-born Nathan Earle, whose nine-minute first team debut for Saracens ended in a 41-14 win over Worcester Warriors in the LV= Cup on January 29, 2012. He is in his first season as a full-time member of Saracens' Senior Academy. Nathan has also been on the Rugby AASE programme at Oaklands College, St Albans and studied A-level history, psychology and PE.

His previous education was at Collier Street Church of England Primary and Sutton Valence School in Maidstone and at club level he played for Stanley Fort in Hong Kong (1997-2000) and Cranbrook in Kent (2000-11). It was there he enjoyed the benign influence of coaches David Morgan and Toby Miles.

Since then other benefits have come at Saracens through academy coaches Matt Davies, Kevin Sorrell, Moses Rauluni and Richard Hill. Ex-academy coach Jan Bonney also helped him. He said: “As far back as I can remember, my ambition has been to play at the highest level I can reach and to pursue rugby as a professional player.”

He has already achieved much – scoring seven tries in eight matches for England U20, including six in five games in the 2014 IRB Junior World Championship, after which he was nominated for the IRB Junior Player of the Year award.

As a U16 hockey player, he helped Sutton Valence to win the Kent Schools Championships. His dad has been a minis and junior coach at Cranbrook for 12 years. Nathan added: “I plan to go to university and am interested in studying ancient history. After my degree and hopefully a rugby career, I should like to use the skills I have learned in the game, such as teamwork, application and endurance.” After playing at full back in the first three U20 Six Nations matches in February this year, he scored a maiden try from the wing in the final game against Italy at Calvisano the following month.
