Wearing an England shirt for the first time off the bench for the U20 side against Ireland at Athlone in February this year added another chapter to the career of Tom Collins. He was educated at Weston Favell Primary School and Northampton School for Boys and is a member of the Northampton Saints Academy.
He previously played at Old Northamptonians (1998-2010), having first picked up a rugby ball at the age of four and appeared for East Midlands (2008-10). His most memorable match was a Daily Mail Cup semi-final, despite his side losing to Judd School.
His father Darren played for Northampton Town FC, as did his grandfather Brian Etheridge. Northampton-born Tom also figured in the football club’s youth team. His favourite players are Jason Robinson and Jonah Lomu and his favourite ground is Franklin’s Gardens.
