Profile

Starting all three triumphant matches when England lifted the FIRA/AER European Championship title in Spain in April 2012 added to the growing rugby CV of Zach Kibirige. He scored a try in the 58-8 win over Georgia in the opening match but his first game at U18 level had been back in August 2011 in the 27-0 victory over Australia A Schools in Sydney.

Zach subsequently played against the London Academies, Northampton Saints, Scotland at Hawick and in Madrid against Georgia, Wales and Ireland. He has studied chemistry, biology and psychology at Yarm School and hopes to go to university to read medicine or biochemistry. Zach played in four U20 Six Nations matches this year, scoring two tries against Scotland and one in the Wales match at Kingston Park, Newcastle.

Since first lacing up his boots at the age of seven at school and with Darlington RFC, he has represented Durham U15, U16 and England U17, figured in the Junior Commonwealth Sevens and is a member of the Newcastle Falcons Academy.

He played for home town club Middlesbrough from 2008-10 and his rugby mentors are his three brothers, Isaac, Joe and Adam, who all appeared at county level. Zach said: “One day, I hope to play for the full England side and for the British & Irish Lions and graduate from university with a good degree in medicine or biochemistry.”

Zach has captained the Falcons Junior Academy, toured France in 2008 with his school and also went to Australia twice in 2011 – with Yarm and England U18.  The players he admires are Bryan Habana, Jonah Lomu, Ian Peel, Shane Williams and Mils Muliaina and Kingston Park, the home of Newcastle Falcons, is his top ground. Zach also ran the 100 metres for Cleveland.
