Since taking up the game at Loughborough University when 21, Abigail Chamberlain has played in every position behind the scrum and has wide ranging experience in Sevens. She has appeared in eight tournaments for England, including the final leg of the IRB World Series in Amsterdam in mid May this year.

They also feature the European Championships in 2009, Dubai in 2011 and those in 2012 spanning Hong Kong, London, Amsterdam and Dubai, where she captained a young side and scored a try in the 7th/8th place play-off victory.

Abi, who was born in Kingston-upon-Thames, scored two tries on her senior England debut at 15-a-side level in the 76-0 win over Scotland at Esher in the opening Six Nations game this year. She went on to start the other four matches in the tournament. Abi had previously represented England A.

She obtained a BSC (Hons) in Sports Coaching Science and Physical Education at Worcester University, having attended Grand Avenue Primary School in Surbiton, Tolworth Girls School, Kingston College and Richmond College.

Back in the England Elite Playing squad for 2012-13, she is a sports development manager at West London College. Her top ground is Hong Kong and her family’s sporting connections extend to her brother Ben playing for Hackney RFC.
