You would expect that to become good at any sport that you need time for your skills to develop. But not Abi. She only took up the sport at Loughborough University by which time she was 21 years of age.
She quickly developed as a real talent in Sevens rugby. She has appeared in nine tournaments for England, including the final leg of the IRB World Series in Amsterdam in 2013 and the European Series second round event at Marbella in the same year. She scored tries in that tournament against Portugal and Germany.
Abi also featured in the European Championships in 2009, Dubai in 2011 and those in 2012 spanning Hong Kong, London, Amsterdam and Dubai, where she captained a young side. Abi also scored two tries on her senior England debut at 15-a-side level against Scotland.
Born in Kingston-upon-Thames, the centre is currently a lecturer in sport and public services at West Thames College in Isleworth, this coming after she earned a degree from Worcester University in Sports Coaching Science and Physical Education.
Abi has also coached with the Ruggerbeez which offers approved rugby training for girls and boys aged as young as two and up to seven. Her favourite place to play is Hong Kong where she was part of the Sevens team which beat Australia in the Hong Kong Sevens, a major contest in the rugby calendar.
