Chelsey's love for rugby started at the age of 11 after she got fed up of watching her brother play every Sunday at Stafford Rugby Club. So, she decided to join in. Her father is chairman of Stafford RFC and also played for Staffordshire so the writing was on the wall for Chelsey, really and that writing said, ‘female rugby star in the making’. After a couple of seasons at Stafford RFC she made the move to Lichfield in 2007 and has been there ever since.
After primary school at All Saints and secondary school at Walton High, both in Stafford, Chelsey went to sixth form, like so many of the Under 20 squad, at Hartpury College in Gloucester. It was here that she came under the guidance of Danielle Waterman, a current Elite Player Squad member and Chelsey's former mentor. Chelsey is now back in Stafford at Stafford College doing a HNC/Foundation degree in Business management.
Her favourite place to play rugby is Twickenham and her most memorable match was the England U20s versus USA U20s because it was the first try she scored for her country. She's played four times for the Under 20's so far.
Chelsey is a big fan of comedy and if she could have any three people over for dinner Russell Howard, Lee Mack and Rhod Gilbert would make the guest list. If she could have any job in the world, though, it would be volcanologist.
