Rugby found Rebecca at the age of 13 and despite also playing football, basketball, rounders, tennis (county level), netball and cricket it was the contact part of rugby she loved: “The reason I started playing was because one of the coaches offered me a chance to try contact and I enjoyed it so I continued to play.” And you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of Rebecca as she's also a black belt at Karate too.
She's covered the inside centre berth before but it's bossing the game at fly half where you'll normally find Rebecca. She's a natural leader, having captained Manchester rugby club for three years, the North-West for two years and Glossop for a season. For now though, she's happy to learn from England’s Katy Mclean at her club, Darlington Mowden Park Sharks.
After Oriel Bank School and Stockport School, Rebecca went to Moulton College and got a sports subsidiary diploma which set her up for her next step in the education ladder at Leeds Metropolitan University where she's in her first year of studying sport coaching. Needless to say, her dream job is to become a sports coach.
She attributes a lot of her success to Howard, her first coach and is a big fan of fellow number 10, Jonny Wilkinson “because of the way he can control and change a game”. And Jonny would get an invite, along with Channing Tatum and Adele if Rebecca could have any three people over for dinner.
