This award recognises the outstanding contribution of a qualified rugby union coach in developing children through rugby union. The coach will have made an outstanding contribution to the sport by ensuring all of his/her players develop their confidence, character, competence and creativity through the sport.

What we are looking for:

  • Evidence of the development of confidence, character, competence and creativity through rugby union to young people aged 7-12
  • Evidence of personal coaching development
  • Evidence of child-centred engagement and high-quality coaching
  • Examples of innovative practice in developing skills and understanding and retaining players within the sport
  • Examples of including parents in the development of children through positive touchline behaviour

This award recognises the outstanding contribution of a qualified rugby union coach in developing young people through rugby union. The coach will have made an outstanding contribution to the sport by ensuring all of his/her players develop their skills, understanding, enjoyment and lifestyle through the sport.

Talent Development Coach of the Year

This award recognises the outstanding contribution of a qualified rugby union coach in developing School of Rugby or CB age group players through rugby union. This award recognises the outstanding contribution of a health care professional working in rugby union in supporting players to stay in and/or succeed in the sport, through high-quality medical service provision within a club & team environment. The health care professional will have made an outstanding contribution to the sport by ensuring injury prevention programmes and care is provided to the highest standards and they champion player safety and welfare issues to enable all of the players to develop their skills, and lifestyle through the sport.

  • Evidence of regular high quality medical provision at club/team level
  • Evidence of personal development in sports medicine/therapy, and specifically in rugby
  • Evidence of player-centred service provision
  • Evidence of a commitment to injury prevention, player safety and welfare
