The England Under 20 forwards prepare to pack down for a scrum

The England Rugby Academy is formed from a team of appointed Academy Managers at the individual host clubs. The Regional Academy network brings together the best coaches to identify and develop elite players in conjunction with Constituent Bodies, clubs and schools in the region.

In the club environment the player will be trained by his Regional Academy Manager. At international level players will be coached by the England National Academy Coaches.

National Academy Team Coaching

National Academy Coaches have a team coaching role and are also able to cover individual skill requirements within a mentoring role. Current team coaches are as follows:

  • U18s – John Fletcher/ Peter Walton
  • U20s – Rob Hunter/ Nick Walshe
  • Sevens – Ben Ryan
  • Specialist Throwing Coach – Simon Hardy
  • Kicking Coach – John Callard
