The Marriott London Sevens is the last of the nine events in the hotly contested HSBC Sevens World Series. New Zealand are once again leading the series after performing consistently well across the season.  England will be going all out to win their home event and make a real statement of intent ahead of the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow in June.

The fight for core status

This year the overall tournament will be slightly different, with the top 12 teams in the series at the completion of the Glasgow event competing for the Cup, and the remaining 3 core teams plus 5 qualifiers who have competed across the series, will take each other on for the right to earn core status for next season.  With so much at stake for so many teams, you won’t want to miss the finals on 12 May.  Head out to the Cardinal Vaughan pitch to take in some of the early rounds of action, before it takes to the main stage on Sunday.

The Game Reserve

The west car park will once again welcome fans from across the world when it opens it doors to The Game Reserve.   Open for all fans to enjoy, there will be live music, interviews with players, on stage games, inflatables for the kids, picnic areas and plenty of food and drink!

The HSBC Lions Lodge

If you’re an HSBC customer you’ll have the added bonus of being able to access the HSBC Lion’s Lodge situated in the West Car Park. Be sure to pounce on your complimentary drink, watch the action from the stadium live on the big screen and have the opportunity to meet an HSBC ambassador! While you’re there, take the chance to tame the HSBC Up & Under challenge and prove you’re king of the pride.

The Marriott London Sevens is the perfect event for kids to get involved in the rugby and to have a fantastic day out, The Game Reserve will play host to an activities area for kids of all ages (and big kids of course) to enjoy and if you need a little help in getting into the Safari theme, look out for the face painters who will be able to help turn you into a leaping leopard or charging rhino.  Look out for the autograph cards being handed out around the family zone too. There are seven to collect!

In the Stadium

With the action on and off the field keeping fans busy across the weekend, the action in the stadium will be at the forefront of our minds.  With try’s and tunes in equal measure the weekend will be there for everyone to enjoy.  Look out for our fantastic safari parade, the Marriott Safari Drummers with ACD Arts and sevens wouldn’t be sevens without the support of our Ranger Girl  cheerleaders.

With so much action to fit in over the weekend, you, the fans, will help to make the event one of the best on the HSBC Sevens World Series. The stadium will be awash with noise and colour and it promises to be one of the events of the summer. We hope you have an amazing time.

Last year’s 70s Disco theme made for a glorious weekend stuffed full of the hottest rugby action, plus disco moves, wig-waving and flying flares. With a record breaking crowd of 103,000 passing through the turnstiles – surpassing the records set at the 2011 event – 2013 promises to be even bigger, better and louder.

The London round will again be the ninth and final event of the HSBC Sevens World Series, with each team striving to be crowned champions. The action kicks off in Australia in October and the players are bursting to get started on the road to their ultimate goal of winning in London.
