Thurrock Ladies
Around 20 years ago some rugby wives, girlfriends and mums got fed up with standing on the touchline and decided to play the great game themselves. It was for them, all about fun.
Time has rocketed by and so has the progress of the now fully-fledged Thurrock Ladies, who this season will make their Premiership bow after an impressive term in 2011/12.
Last season, with a strong back office team of management and coaches and a strong group of players, the T-Birds topped their league and then won the Championship play-off with a hard fought battle over Camp Hill.
With a record of four league titles and three promotions in five seasons, the T-Birds have clearly become a force to be reckoned with in women’s rugby, and are now one of the top eight sides in the country.
Oakfield is the club’s fortress, having lost just once at home in the last five seasons.
