The Babcock Trophy: Army v Navy

The six month build up of adrenalin will detonate before 60,000 partisans at Twickenham on May 7, 2011, as both teams square up to contest the Babock Trophy. Glory or ignominy – there can be no half measures.
This year the Army will be in the unusual position of trying to wrestle back the trophy won by the Royal Navy in the final minutes of a titanic encounter in 2010. It had surely been the Nelsonian touch that turned the game from what looked to be a certain Army win into ‘anyone’s game’ with twenty minutes remaining.
The Navy led by skipper Dave Pascoe took advantage and kicked the points that edged the Navy back into the game, before rallying shattered bodies for one final heave, which saw Gareth Evans, the Navy tight head prop, crash over for a match winning try in the final minutes of the match.
Full details on the match can be can be found on the official Babcock Trophy Army Navy match website.
