Our Collection Policy
Aim
- To acquire the most comprehensive and all-encompassing collection of rugby football related memorabilia/objects possible
- To cover within the collection: all rugby-playing countries, all periods, all levels, both genders and famous players/teams through a wide variety of artefacts
- To prioritise a single representation/copy of any object, judged according to its value to the core areas covered in the collection
This will be achieved through acceptance of donations, purchase, bequest, long and short-term loans, as well as proactive collecting, including recording of oral history and targeted collecting (mainly through auctions and sales).
Priorities
- Famous players’ memorabilia/objects (from any nation)
- Supporter memorabilia/objects
- Early development of the game, artefacts of historical importance
- Artwork with a rugby theme or relevance to rugby history
- Miscellaneous objects highlighting humour and the social aspects of the rugby lifestyle
- A library of rugby match programmes
- Archival items focusing specifically on the RFU, England and Twickenham Stadium
