We also talk coaching with Sir Ian McGeechan and refereeing with Ed Morrison.

Leicester face the Ospreys in the second round of European games after defeat on the road against Toulouse.

Allen argues that the Tigers weren’t too far away from getting it right in France and that subduing a physical Welsh side will be the first challenge at Welford Road.

McGeechan is a director of the new Rugby Coaches Association, which aims to support and connect professional coaches from rugby league and rugby union in the same way that the Rugby Players Association acts for players.

Also on the Podcast, Harlequins were the first club to take part in a new initiative that sees academy players learn what it’s like to referee the game. Former World Cup final referee Ed Morrison – the RFU’s Head of Professional Referee Development – tells us about the scheme.
